Summary
Donald Trump's return to the presidency of the United States seems to mean the end of a world, and the sudden and brutal eruption of a new one. This strategic revolution, of rare importance, is calling into question even the most traditional alliances. Far from the narrative of a "peacemaker", the trumpist agenda did not lead to the rapid outcomes announced in the wars in Ukraine and Gaza, which continue to illustrate the impotence of Europeans in the face of crises which are crucial to their own stability. While the year that opens could be decisive in the first of these conflicts, the consequences of 7 October 2023 do not end up weighing on the recomposition of geopolitical power relations in the Middle East in the second, until the confrontation between Israel and the United States, on the one hand, and Iran, on the other. Farther from these theatres, Latin America and Africa are no less subject to these hazards, the first of which is the gulf of which the U.S. presidency is now in the forefront.
